(count of) born March 9, 1749, Bignon, near Nemours, Fr. died April 2, 1791, Paris French politician and orator, one of the greatest figures in the National Assembly that governed France during the early phases of the French Revolution. A moderate and an advocate of constitutional monarchy, he died before the Revolution reached its radical climax.
