Wade-Giles romanization Mu-shih-t'a-ko Shan, Pinyin Muztagata Shan, also called Kashgar Range, mountain range in westernmost Uighur Autonomous Region of Sinkiang, China. It extends 200 miles (320 km) in a north-northwest and south-southeast axis parallel to the eastern edge of the Pamirs range and rises to 25,325 feet (7,719 m) at Mount Kung-ko-erh. The peak of Mu-shih-t'a-ko (24,757 feet ) in the range is about 100 miles (160 km) southwest of the city of Kashgar.
