The former (prior to 1975) rubber plantations of Phumi Pam Cheang near the town have the ruins of a Khmer temple. At nearby 'Neak Loeang is a ferry across the Mekong River. The surrounding region consists mostly of the flat to gently rolling Mekong River floodplains. Rice, corn (maize), and cotton are the chief crops. Pop. (1987 est.) 11,000.
