town, Rogaland fylke (county), southwestern Norway. Located at the head of Ganda Fjord, which is a branch of Bokna Fjord, Sandnes is the chief port for the surrounding Jren agricultural region. It has excellent road and rail connections with Stavanger and the remainder of southern Norway. The town produces textiles, bicycle and boating products, construction materials, and ceramic tiles.
