one of a series of cobalt and nickel arsenide minerals that occur with other cobalt and nickel minerals in moderate-temperature veins. The members of the series, which all form crystals of isometric symmetry, are skutterudite, nickel-skutterudite, smaltite, and chloanthite; their compositions approach that of (Co,Ni)As3 - x.
