It was chartered in 1927 and has become an important industrial centre. The church (190911) is noted for its stained glass. Other imposing buildings are the large Marabou chocolate factory and the multistory apartments around Storskogen Park. The town's products include electrical and chemical equipment, building materials, and outboard motors. Immediately to the southwest is Bromma Airport for internal services. Pop. (1994 est.) mun. 31,074.
