Swedish Vanda, city in Uudenmaan lni (Uusima province), southern Finland, just north of Helsinki. Located in the estuary of the Vantaa River, it was incorporated as a city in 1972. Notable landmarks are the church of St. Lauri (1492), the parish of Helsinki Museum, and the Finnish Aviation Museum. Vantaa is connected with Helsinki and Lahti by motorways and railways. It is also an important manufacturing and tourist centre. Pop. (1983 est.) mun., 138,018.
