Meaning of BOTHWELL in English

( c. 1536–78)

the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots . He was probably involved with her in the murder of her second husband, the Earl of Darnley , in 1567. When they got married three months after the murder, they were forced to leave the country and finally became prisoners until their deaths. Bothwell died in prison in Denmark.
