Meaning of COUNTY COURT in English

1. ( in England and Wales ) a local court of law for minor civil cases (= ones concerned with the private rights of citizens rather than crimes), e.g. disputes about the ownership of land. Such cases are dealt with by a judge without a jury. See also Crown Court .

2. ( in some US states ) a court of law in a county, where small civil cases or criminal cases are dealt with. See also magistrates’ court .
