EURO


Meaning of EURO in English

n ( pl euro or euros )

the unit of currency of a number of countries within the European Union . It came into existence on 1 January 1999 but coins and paper money were only issued from 1 January 2002. Three of the member states, Denmark, Sweden and the UK, did not introduce the euro. The British government decided to wait before joining it.
