king of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1910–36). He was the son of Edward VII . He became popular with the British people for supporting the British armed forces in World War I . In 1917 he dropped all his German titles and changed the family name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor (I)(2).
