(1882–1974)

a US film producer, born in Poland. In 1916 he established Goldwyn Pictures, which later became part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer . He received an Oscar for The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), and his other films included Wuthering Heights (1939), Guys and Dolls (1955) and Porgy and Bess (1959). Goldwyn was famous for his strange and sometimes comic use of English, such as ‘Gentlemen, kindly include me out’ and ‘In two words, im-possible.‘.
