Meaning of GRIMALDI in English

(1779–1837)

an English comedy actor who is regarded as the first British clown. He invented the style that is now typical of clowns in many countries, wearing strange, brightly-coloured clothes and white make-up on his face. Many clowns are still called ‘Joey’ after him.
