a US businesswoman who established an international company selling beauty products. She began it in 1946, and it remained a private company until 1996. In 2003 it had sales of over $5 billion around the world.
II . Harry Lauder
(1870–1950)
a Scottish comic singer who wore Highland dress on stage and became popular with songs such as I Love a Lassie and Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ . He was made a knight in 1919 for his work entertaining soldiers during World War I .
