I . Harold Lloyd
(1893–1971)
a US comic actor in over 500 silent films. His typical character was shy and wore glasses, and often got into dangerous situations. The best-known of these was a scene in Safety Last (1923), in which Lloyd hangs by his hands from a large clock on the outside of a tall building. His other films included The Freshman (1925) and The Kid Brother (1927). He received a special Oscar in 1952.
II . Marie Lloyd
(1870–1922)
one of the most popular of all English music-hall (1) performers. She was famous for her cockney humour and for comic songs, such as A Little of What You Fancy Does You Good and Oh, Mr Porter , which shocked some people because they often referred to sex, though in a humorous way.
