MIRROR

Meaning of MIRROR in English

one of Britain’s national daily newspapers, formerly called the Daily Mirror . It was started in 1903 by Alfred Harmsworth , who later became Lord Northcliffe , as a newspaper for women. At first it was not a success, but it became very successful when it was made the world’s first daily newspaper with pictures. It suffered badly after being bought in 1984 by Robert Maxwell . It presents political views that are generally left-wing. The paper has a tabloid format (= size of page), and is considered to be part of the ‘popular press’, not one of the ‘quality papers’.
