a US actor with a pleasant deep voice who usually played honest, good men. He won an Oscar playing the part of a southern lawyer in To Kill a Mockingbird . His other films include Spellbound (1945), Duel in the Sun (1946), Gentleman’s Agreement (1947), The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit (1956), Moby-Dick (1956), The Omen (1976) and Other People’s Money (1991).
