REPUBLICAN PARTY

one of the two main political parties in the US, sometimes called the Grand Old Party. It receives more support from rich people and is more conservative than its rival the Democratic Party . It was established in 1854 by people who wanted to free the slaves. Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican President , and others have included Theodore Roosevelt , Dwight D Eisenhower , Richard M Nixon , Ronald Reagan , George Bush and George W Bush . The official symbol of the party is an elephant.
