Meaning of RYDER in English

(1923–2000)

an English charity worker. In 1953 she started the Sue Ryder Foundation, which gives care to sick or disabled people in centres around the world. She had played an important part in World War II , working with people who resisted the Nazis in Poland. In 1959 she married Leonard Cheshire , who had done a lot of charity work similar to hers. She was made a life peer in 1978.
