an English comedy actor. His skill at copying other people’s voices in an amusing way first became well known through the radio programme The Goon Show . By the 1960s he had become a major comedy film star, best known for playing three different roles in Dr Strangelove (1963) and for playing Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther series of films.
