a British punk (1) group. They were one of the first groups to play punk music in Britain, and became famous in the 1970s for their lack of respect for anybody. Some people were offended by the words of their songs, including Anarchy in the UK (1976) and God Save the Queen (1977), and others were offended by their behaviour, which included spitting and swearing in public and on television. The best-known members of the group were Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious.
