Meaning of TODAY in English

1. a BBC radio news programme, broadcast on Radio 4 in the early morning from Monday to Saturday. Many people listen to it while they are getting up and having breakfast. It consists mainly of discussions about important matters in the news, especially politics. It was first broadcast in 1958.

2. a US national television news programme broadcast from Monday to Friday in the early morning on NBC . It consists of a mixture of news, interviews, special features and informal discussion. People presenting the show have included Dave Garroway, Barbara Walters , Tom Brokaw , Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel.
