a US airline. It was established in 1930, and made its first international flight (to Paris) in 1946. It was the first airline to show films on its planes (in 1961). Since 2001 it has been owned by American Airlines. In 1996 a TWA flight exploded over Long Island and all 230 people on board were killed. The cause has not been found.
