an English actor, writer and film director. He was best known for playing unusual characters, e.g. in Death on the Nile (1978), in which he played the detective Hercule Poirot . He was also admired for telling funny stories on stage and television and for his ability to copy many different foreign accents. Ustinov wrote several plays and novels. He was made a knight in 1990.
