a US comedy actor, singer and dancer. He had his own television series, The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961–6), which won three Emmys (1963, 1964 and 1966), and The New Dick Van Dyke Show (1971–2). He later played Dr Mark Sloan in the CBS television series Diagnosis Murder (1993–2001). His films include Bye Bye Birdie (1963), Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) and Dick Tracy (1990).
