WATFORD

Meaning of WATFORD in English

a town in Hertfordshire , just to the north of London. The phrase ‘north of Watford’ is sometimes used in a humorous way to suggest that any part of England north of the London area is less important, interesting and sophisticated (= knowing about fashion, culture, new ideas, etc.) than London and the south of England:

He seems to think that everywhere north of Watford is uncivilized.
