Meaning of RONGO in English

[Polynesian] The Polynesian god of peace, plants, and cultivated foods, especially kumara, the sweet potato. With his rains he makes the crops grow. Rongo ("sound") is the son of Rangi and Papa. He manifests himself in the rainbow (as Kahukura) and enjoys feasting. On Hawaii he is known as Longo, on Tahiti as Ro'o, and on Samoa os Lo'o. In Easter Island mythology, the Creator.
