RONGELAP AND RONGERIK

[Other] Big cheeks and Small cheeks. Hero brothers of the Caroline Islands. There are islands that share their names in the Marshall Islands, but no stories survive. Most know stories come from the neighboring Caroline Islands. Rongerik had magic which he used most often to save his brother, who was constantly lost. These brothers are related, in part, to stories of Longorik and Longolap from Ifaluk. Their father, Aluluei, gave them lessons in navigation and sailing, but Longolap never paid much attention. In Lamotrek the set of brothers are Big Rong and Little Rong.
