CONSOLIDATED FORMATION

Geological formations which occur naturally and have been turned to stone. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with the word Bedrock. It includes rock such as basalt, rhyolite, sandstone, limestone and shale. Typically, these formations will stand at the edges of a bore hole without caving.
