Meaning of TRANSLATORY WAVE in English

(Hydraulics) A wave, such as a flood wave, whose water particles constantly progress in the direction of the wave movement; a characteristic of unsteady flow. A gravity wave that propagates in an open channel and results in displacement of water particles in a direction parallel to the flow.
