Also known as 100BaseT, this new Ethernet protocol is capable of supporting 100 megabits of information per second over twisted pair cable, rather than the 10 megabits of 10BaseT, over your local area network. A number of vendors now sell 100BaseT cards for both Macintosh and Windows computers, and these cards are typically found in servers, scanning, image editing and other workstations that need this bigger bandwidth to eliminate transmission bottlenecks.
