(1920–94) a US writer, born in Germany, who wrote several novels, short stories, and collections of poetry. His work often shows both anger and humour. His novels include Post Office and Ham on Rye , and his best-known short story collection is called Erections, Ejaculations, Exhibitions, and General Tales of Ordinary Madness .
