(1916–2005) a British politician in the Conservative Party, who was Prime Minister from 1970 to 1974. He was known for disagreeing with Margaret Thatcher, who followed him as Conservative leader, and for his strong support for the European Union and the idea of a single European ↑ currency (=system of money) . He was also a respected musician and used to sail a ↑ yacht (=sailing boat used in races) .
