CULTURAL LATENCY

The converse of cultural literacy, which measures how versed one is on the music, literature, and events of the times, cultural latency is a measure of how far behind the times one has become. Example: Chuck's dad still thinks that going into the crane position from _Karate Kid_ when he pretends to fight is still hysterical. If my dad had a 17-year cultural latency, I'd die.
