GENERATIONAL DISSONANCE

Meaning of GENERATIONAL DISSONANCE in English

The state of believing that one's generation is unique; that one will avoid the errors made by predecessors in similar situations. Example: He actually thought that 90s music would be around forever. It was generational dissonance that kept him from seeing that it would clearly have the same sad fate ten years from now as 80s music does today.
