CEEFAX

noun (Lifestyle and Leisure) (Science and Technology) In the UK, the trade mark of a teletext system (see tele-) operated by the BBC. Etymology: A respelling of see (as in seeing) combined with fax (see fax° and faxÜ): seeing facsimile, on which you may see facts. History and Usage: Ceefax was introduced in the early seventies and is now a standard option on most new television sets in the UK.
