FUNCTIONAL SIGNALING

In an integrated services digital network ( ISDN ), signaling in which the signaling messages are unambiguous and have clearly defined meanings that are known to both the sender and receiver of the messages. Note: Functional signaling is usually generated by the data terminal equipment ( DTE ).
