: infection with or disease caused by molds of the genus Aspergillus:
a. : a severe respiratory disease of birds caused by a mold ( A. fumigatus or rarely A. niger ) and marked by unthriftiness, emaciation, and pulmonary calcification resembling that of tuberculosis or in young chickens and turkeys taking the form of an acute rapidly fatal pneumonia — called also brooder pneumonia
b. : a disease of man usually occurring in agricultural workers, hair or fur cleaners and others exposed to inhalation of spores (especially A. fumigatus ) and characterized by formation of lumps in the skin, ears, sinuses, and respiratory organs
