Meaning of HOOD, MOUNT in English

highest peak (11,235 ft ) in Oregon, U.S., in the Cascade Range, 45 mi (70 km) east-southeast of Portland. It is an extinct volcano that last erupted about 1865. First sighted in 1792 by the English navigator William Broughton, and named for the British admiral Lord Hood, the snowcapped peak was used as a landmark by early settlers. It is the focal point of Mt. Hood National Forest, a popular tourist and recreation area.
