Meaning of SINT NICOLAAS in English

town, southeastern end of Aruba Island, in the southern Caribbean Sea. Its deepwater port, with facilities for cargo handling and fuel bunkering, serves the nearby Lago Oil and Transport Company refinery, established by Standard Oil of New Jersey (now Exxon) in 1929. Nearby is the coastal village of Savaneta, which, under the name of Commandeursbaai, was the capital of Aruba until 1797. Pop. (1986 est.) 17,000.
