Meaning of AGE OF DISCRETION in English

the age at which young people are considered able to deal with their own affairs, e.g. to own property, to make a contract with someone, or to make a will (= sign a document saying what will happen to their possessions when they die). The age of discretion in Britain is now 14. In the US it varies in different states.
