a thick yellow liquid that is eaten hot or cold with various sweet dishes. It is made with milk, eggs, flour and sugar. It can also be bought in tins, or as a powder that is mixed with milk. Some British people associate custard with school meals:

For pudding we had apple crumble with lumpy custard.
