a popular children’s game. It is played with a dice on a board marked with squares, and with pictures of snakes and ladders that go over more than one square. To win the game, a player must reach the top of the board by moving along the squares. A player who arrives on a square where there is the bottom of a ladder can move straight to the top of the ladder, but one arriving at the head of a snake has to move back down to its tail.
