EGG SURVEY

A systematic and scientific estimation of the abundance of eggs (and larvae) in an area, through sampling at the bottom or in the water column with appropriate devices (e.g. small meshed midwater trawls, plankton nets, bamboo traps). Used to estimate the size of the spawning stock and /or the importance of spawning.
