Clemens played for the Boston Red Sox (1984–96), Toronto Blue Jays (1997–1998), New York Yankees (1999–2003), and Houston Astros (from 2004). In 1986 he became the first pitcher to strike out 20 batters in a single (nine-inning) game; he later tied his own record (1996). He won the Cy Young Award for best pitcher six times (1986, 1987, 1991, 1997, 1998, 2001).
