Meaning of CARPET GRASS in English

(Axonopus affinis), mat-forming perennial grass of the family Poaceae, native to sandy soils in southeastern North America. Carpet grass reaches a height of 2050 cm (820 inches). It is occasionally used as a lawn and pasture grass there and in warm parts of Australia. A. compressus, a broader-leaved, closely related species native to South Africa, is also known as carpet grass. It too is used for lawns, though both species are often considered weeds.
