Russian Gory Gamburtseva, subglacial range in the central part of eastern Antarctica, extending 750800 miles (1,2001,300 km). The mountains attain their greatest height at 11,120 feet (3,390 m). Completely buried under more than 1,970 feet (600 m) of the Antarctic ice cap, they were discovered in 1958 by a Soviet expedition and mapped by seismic reflections.
