MEADS, COLIN EARL

born June 3, 1936, Cambridge, N.Z. byname Pine Tree New Zealander rugby player and former team captain (1971) whose outstanding performance as a lock forward made him a national figure. Meads was a farmer before becoming an athlete, and he played for King County from 1955 until his retirement in 1972. His appearance in 55 Test (international) matches is a record for the New Zealand All Blacks club.
