In addition to undergraduate studies the university offers more than 20 master's degree programs. Academic facilities include the Derrickson Agriculture Complex and the Crosthwaite Outdoor Education Center at Cave Run Lake. Total enrollment is approximately 9,000. The university was founded in 1922 as a state teachers' college. The campus was established on the former site of a private denominational school for boys and girls that had opened in 1887. Morehead State was granted university standing in 1966.
