PUENTE-GENIL

town, Cordova province, in the comunidad autnoma (autonomous community) of Andalusia, southern Spain, located south of Cordova city, on the CordovaMlaga railway. An agricultural centre, Puente-Genil produces olive oil, quince and other fruit jellies, linen, and insecticides. It takes its name from the bridge (puente) over the Genil River connecting the two sections of the town. Pop. (1981) 25,615.
